| Raised in the Northwest After receiving her BA in Fine Arts, Dane' worked as a painter and an educator. In the early 80's she began working as a creative director at a prominent Portland Ad agency and was enterprising enough to open her own firm in '84 which focused on the Hospitality Industry. Her decades as one of Portland’s premier advertising executives and graphic designers is marked by several awards including several coveted Rosies – awarded by the Portland Ad Federation for creative excellence in design. Yet the desire to practice her textile fine arts never left. In '99, she made the decision to use her fine arts skills and lighting background and began to create lighting with unusual textiles. Combined with her understanding of the emotional qualities of light, she cerated a multitude of textures and original shapes, designs, and ultimately task driven fixtures. She found that significant variations in light caused by diverse materials had a dramatic emotional impact on a room’s environment. This passion and the collaboration of light, color, and texture, have made light fixtures Dane's preferred canvas. Designing for the Future Raised with an appreciation for her natural surroundings, and never satisfied with the 'VANILLA' fixtures of the world, in 2005 Dane' developed new and sustainable solutions to lighting using zero tox mediums and reclaimed materials. |

| about the designer It’s not surprising that Dane` grew up to be a lighting designer. Raised by musicians, an electrical engineer, and her paternal grandmother - Christina Ricci - a dress designer from Milan (her lighting career began in the 4th grade when she built a light bulb for a school science project) Who knew her two worlds of art and science would ultimately collide. |
